Mission 19-Barsby 16
In many ways this game was a microcosm of the 2012 JV Season. We started slow in the first half getting down 13-0 at the break. An early third quarter Roadrunner punt return widened the gap to 19-0 and then all hec broke loose. Our JV's responded with a very physical drive along the ground to the end-zone and capped it off with a 2 pt. conversion. The ensuing short kick was unsuccessful and Mission began with great field position. Our defense responded by knocking them back to fourth and long and we got the ball back deep in our end of the field. We drove to mid-field and then qb North Rainey threw a literal bomb just over 40 yards to Cole Smith deep over the middle for the second Barsby score. Trentyn Anderson pounded the ball in for a 2 pt. conversion and it was 19-6. The rest of the game was back and forth contest with each team forcing a turnover and having its chances for another score. The tide was turning in our favor and we simply ran out of time. Another great Barsby-Mission tilt, hard fought and cleanly played!
The 2012 Barsby JV's have been an inspiration, particularly your faith and resilience in the face of on-field adversity. This will stand you in good stead when your gridiron days are a pleasant memory of your youth. What a fine group of young men! You bring honor to the game and your futures are bright!
Go Dawgs!
