Barsby will be wearing Whites! Our defense has shut-out 4 of 5 opponents this year. We Gang- Tackle like mad-men and call these group events "white-outs!" because you cannot see the ball carrier beneath all the white Barsby Uniforms!!

We are asking our supporters to wear white and bring white towels to wave in the stands. We are looking for "white-out conditions" in our fan section. Our bench and fan side will be on the tower side of the field. Ballenas and their fans will be seated opposite. Please bring all the family and friends you can muster out to the game. Please use Facebook and social media to get the word out. We want to make this game an epic happening!!

In support of our school community we will be requesting a non-perishable food donation for the school food hamper program at the gate if it can be managed.

The JV edition of the Ray Kocher Classic will be played this Thursday at 3:16 PM on the Nanaimo District HS Field.  The game is named after the former principal of both schools, Mr. Ray Kocher, who oversaw the formation of both football programs.  Thanks so much Mr. Kocher, your legacy lives on!!   This one counts for league standings folks so it is going to be intense!

That is our Motto, Our Creed and our Marching Orders all rolled into one.  A good week of practice and effort in the weight room translated into our best football of the year.  We lost 32-16 but it sure did not feel like it.  We played hard all day long and finished the game very strong.  Gang, it really looked like Barsby Ball out there on Wednesday.  Fast, physical and relentless. We set the tone for this week's practice and preparation for league play vs the NDSS Islanders next Thursday, 3:15 PM on the NDSS home field!

Battle In The Cage!

 

 

 

 



Defenses and Special Teams took care of all but two points in this week's tilt.  The Islanders opened up with a 55 yard interception touchdown in the first quarter and took the 6-0 lead into the half.  Barsby responded with an electrifying 75 Yard Johnson Nguyen kick-off return to open the second half.  The score was capped off with a three yard run by Justis MacKay-Topley to make the score 8-6 for good.

Barsby defense and special teams were superb.  Offensively, we still struggled by were definitely playing better than we were in week 1.  We will enter practice looking to clean-up our ball handling, penalties and definitely to improve upon our team blocking.

Next-Up are our Arch Rivals, The Ballenas Whalers, Wednesday at 3:01 PM in The Cage.

Our Varsity Dawgs travel to play the Argyle Pipers of North Vancouver this Friday.  The game will represent our first league contest as we battle for playoff contention in November.  Argyle and Barsby have had a series of increasingly close games over the past two years including last year's epic come from behind JV win at Merle Logan in the BC Quarter-Final game vs the Pipers.  Memories are fresh and this promises to be a lights out battle at the Varsity level!

Dawgs Rebound Big!

Our Varsity squad rebounded from a tough loss last week with a total team effort vs GW Graham.  The defense was stellar posting five interceptions and a fumble recovery.  One interception wound up being a 90 yard scoring play as was the fumble recovery in our opponent's end zone.  Offensively, we put up 496 yards via the air and ground. 

A big shout out to our wounded warrior Trentyn Anderson!  We love ya lots and are going to be with you all the way to your return to the field in a few weeks!

Humans fight, gal dang that is a historical fact.  We fight because we are passionate and if another being is passionate about what we want, we get gal dang competitive.  We are what we are.

Valleyview taught us how to compete, within the rules, no excuses required.  Without them, we could not find our best selves.  Thanks guys for the Game!  Awesome Stuff!!


Now it is evidenced that we lost, but hec, we had the good luck today to be around one another and learn lots about getting better! The scoreboard said we lost 20-0 but I think we, coaches included, got to see a way forward from our present state. Excited as hec about getting better next practice!!!

Our Varsity Dawgs travel this Friday, 13 September to Chilliwack to play the GW Graham Grizzlies.  Graham is coming off of a close loss to AAA Kelowna this past weekend and this will be their first Varsity home game of the season.  We are playing on their school field and the crowd is going to be fearsome in terms of size and enthusiasm.  The day is going to start mighty early for us and we again travel.  Learning to play while tired and under stress is a good thing however because when the big games of November roll around we are going to know that we have been there before!

Our JV squad kicks-off its season this Thursday at 3:40 PM vs the Valleyview Vikings of Kamloops!  Players and coaches are hyper-excited for this game as it has been a long wait to start playing some ball!

Valleyview will roll in with a large roster in terms of numbers and some big, tough players.  Our Dawgs will surely have their work cut-out for them as they host the "Football Aristocracy" of greater Kamloops.

We are looking for a huge turnout in support of our young fellas come Thursday!  Wear Red and always remember to cheer for our team and not against our visitors.  Without Valleyview, we would not have a game and a way to find the best from within ourselves!

Complete effort on season opener up in Prince George!

Our varsity squad prepared and travelled well for their season opener vs the Duchess Park Condors of PG.  The game was played in near perfect conditions with great tempo and intensity.  Every player on the squad saw the field and made a meaningful contribution.  We are headed in the right direction. Well Done Dawgs!
